RFID Middleware for Track & Trace and Supply Chain Management

The platform-independent RCOM Gateway is designed specifically for RFID solutions within supply chain operations. Its built-in rule engine, customizable user interface, and open programming API make it possible to manage logistics events with a high level of precision. RCOM gives users maximum flexibility, supported by a wide range of ready-to-use templates for standard scenarios. These templates can be quickly tailored and extended to meet unique business requirements.

RCOM Gateway – Overview of Functions & Modules

Device Management and Reader Control

The middleware plays a key role in managing and processing object movements and load carrier events. These events are triggered by stationary RFID readers and control devices at RFID gates.

The RCOM Gateway uses agents that can be installed either directly on the Linux core of the reader or as a Windows service on a server. These agents control the hardware via the manufacturer’s API, allowing the middleware to automatically handle new APIs, updates, and firmware changes without additional configuration.

Track & Trace Module

The Track & Trace module enables real-time localization of assets, load carriers, or containers through RFID identification.

With just a few clicks, RCOM provides an overview of the entire plant or warehouse layout. Integration with geo-coordinates allows visualization on Google Maps, automatically plotting the positions via the Google API. This makes it possible to track inventory live, at any time, and at precise locations.

Configurable Rules

Only qualified, load carrier-relevant events are processed in the backend. For these events, RCOM provides a user-friendly Workflow Designer for defining configurable rules.

The designer supports tasks ranging from standard automated processes to detailed custom programming. No IT specialist is required—logisticians can easily adjust and manage process logic independently.

Adaptable Web Interfaces

RFID identification enables automated data capture, with all load carrier movements visually displayed in RCOM.

During operations such as goods loading, the system provides real-time confirmation that all items have been correctly recorded. Any discrepancies, like an “incorrect pallet,” are immediately highlighted.

Since the display format and associated data can vary for each logistics process, RCOM includes a UI Designer that allows users to create custom interface screens. These interfaces can also be configured with individual user permissions.

Is Your Supply Chain Functioning Optimally?

In times of crisis, it is crucial that supply chains are resilient in order to optimally supply customers with goods, control costs and prevent losses in sales. Challenges such as stockouts, delivery delays, quality issues or production downtime pose a serious threat to the supply chain. RCOM enables the next-gen supply chain and helps companies stay competitive, minimize risks and seize opportunities in an ever-changing business environment.

Supply Chains Under Pressure - RCOM Provides Transparency

  • A Complex Supply Chain
  • Regional and global supply chains must be connected. A large number of suppliers,

ocations and parties involved must be brought together. In addition, the demand for delivery accuracy is increasing.

  • Interoperability
  • The track & trace systems of your business partners are different. This impairs seamless collaboration along the supply chain. This leads to errors and loss of time.

  • A Low Level of Automation
  • Automated logistics processes are the crucial factor in increasing efficiency. Automating logistics processes with RFID means greater efficiency, fewer human errors and reduced costs.

  • Labor Shortage
  • Is your company suffering from a labor shortage and your supply chain engineering is understaffed?

  • New Business Models
  • Your goal is to offer Supply Chain as a Service (SCaaS)? New business models are more dependent than ever on functioning information flows.

  • Qualified Data
  • Track & trace systems are only as good as the quality of the data collected. Errors in data entry or incomplete information as well as inconsistencies between different data sources can severely impair traceability.

  • Networking as a Competitive Advantage
  • Want to optimize networking with other companies, suppliers, test laboratories or logistics service providers? Networking does not work without a digital and secure platform that operates ike a data broker.

  • Regulatory Requirements
  • Can‘t track the movement of your products from order, to delivery, to production and shipment? If so, the requirements of supply chain laws will be impossible to meet! Compliance costs associated with meeting regulations and standards increase the overall cost of your supply chain.

  • Costs and Profitability
  • Your resource efficiency is low and the costs are too high compared to the competition

  • Planning and Crisis Prevention
  • Want to access collaborative information on forecasts, orders, production, capacity, delivery and stock levels in real time? Without intelligent and transparent data flows in real time, predictive planning is not possible.
